Hakeem Omilowo is originally from Nigeria, where he got is first degree in Marine Biology from the University of Lagos. He is co-supervised by Dr. Mark Hanson and Dr. Vince Palace (IISD- Experimental Lakes Area), and his research seeks the understand the effects of non-invasive remediation of conventional heavy crude oil on biofilm communities. Before starting his Master's he was an intern for the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency where he worked on prevention and remediation of crude oil into aquatic and wetland environments.
