Mark Hanson, Ph.D
Professor

Mark is a Professor and Head of Department for Environment and Geography.  He obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) at the University of Toronto, Ph.D. (Toxicology) at the University of Guelph, and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA; Rennes, France) before joining the University of Manitoba in 2004.  His research expertise is in ecological risk assessment, especially in the area of pesticides, emerging contaminants, and wastewaters in freshwater and marine ecosystems.  Mark has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, worked collaboratively, nationally, and internationally with academics, government, NGOs, and industry, and has advised over 50 honours, Masters, and Ph.D. students.
