Sarah Warrack
M.Sc. 

Honours: Microplastics in Lake Winnipeg. Densities of Microplastics in the surface waters of Lake Winnipeg (2014-2016) were elevated relative to densities within the Great Lakes. 86% of microplastics found were fibres.

 

Masters: Sarah investigated the long-term fate of microplastics in wetland mesocosms, and the role of nutrients and freezing on settling and resuspension dynamics.

 

Current Work: I am currently the Junior Education and Outreach Manager at IISD- Experimental Lakes Area where I am developing Science content for teachers, running a university level winter field ecology course, as well as an eDNA course for Winnipeg high school students in conjunction with the Docker lab at the University of Manitoba where students develop research skills such as field work, scientific poster making, how to write a scientific blog.
